For the last 46 years I have had the privilege to visit and photograph many locations of deep cultural significance in the American Southwest. I’ve approached this exciting journey with solemn reverence and respect for the great peoples, tribes, and beliefs of this diverse land. Countless times, I arrive at a photography location, only to have a genuine sense that the landscape has something to say. I’m patiently listening to the wind, hearing the raven’s call echo throughout the canyon walls, considering the mysteries of providence as the Creator writes our stories, and watching for the perfect light to take a photograph. I strive to make every photograph tell a story that encourages the viewer to consider the world around them, and embrace the things that endure the test of time.
My long journey in this craft has included multiple magazine articles highlighting my process and techniques. My work has appeared on photography magazine covers. Canon USA has licensed photography work I did in the National Park System. Several pieces of my work are included in the acclaimed Art of Emprise Collection and have enjoyed many exhibits in fine gallery’s over all these decades.
Thank you for taking time to consider my work. I hope your viewing experience is a positive and encouraging part of your day.
Gerald Hill.
